Gene R. LaGrange, 78, Mariah Hill

Gene R. LaGrange, 78, Mariah Hill, died Monday, Jan. 2, 2017, at Select Specialty Hospital in Evansville.

He was born in St. Meinrad on July 16, 1938, to Everett and Jeanette M. (Werne) LaGrange. He married Anna I. Dilger on Oct. 25, 1958, in Mary Help of Christians Church in Mariah Hill.

Mr. LaGrange was a retired teacher at North Spencer School Corp. He received his teaching degree from Brescia College and his master’s degree from Indiana University.

He was a member of St. Francis Of Assisi-Mary Help Of Christians Parish.

He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He enjoyed golf and was an Indiana University basketball and Los Angeles Dodgers fan.

He is survived by his wife, Anna I. LaGrange; one son, John (Stacey) LaGrange of Santa Claus; two daughters, Cheryl (Ray) Springston of Holland and Jennifer L. LaGrange of Mariah Hill; one brother, Don (Jeannie) LaGrange of Washington; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and his dog.

There will be no visitation.

A funeral will be held at a later date.
