Gene Allen Meyerholtz, 76

Gene Allen Meyerholtz, 76, of Huntingburg, passed away at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 7, 2015, at Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center in Jasper.

He was born February 11, 1939 in Huntingburg to Millard Meyerholtz, Sr. and Edna (Schmaker) Meyerholtz.

Gene’s first job was at Struckman Automotive in Huntingburg followed by 22 years at Styline Corporation. In 1979, he co-founded Dubois Wood Products with Jack Parker.

Gene was a member of Salem United Church of Christ where he served as president of the church council, the Jaycees, the Optimist Club, the Y.M.I. Club, and the Dubois County Masonic Lodge #520 F&AM. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping.

Gene was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Douglas Meyerholtz; and one brother, Billy Meyerholtz.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Glenda R. (Schwambach) Meyerholtz of Huntingburg; one son and daughter-in-law, Bryan (Jannette) Meyerholtz of Huntingburg; two daughters and one son-in-law, Karen (Bruce) Snyder of Huntingburg and Marcia Messmer of Huntingburg; six sisters, Anna Mary Feldmeyer of Huntingburg, Alice Duncan of Huntingburg, Betty O’Brien of Huntingburg, Judy Selvidge of Duff, Linda Leibering of Huntingburg and Caroline Phillips of Huntingburg; one brother, Millard Meyerholtz, Jr. of Huntingburg; by nine grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Gene Meyerholtz will be held at 10:00 a.m. EDT on Monday, October 12, 2015, at Salem United Church of Christ in Huntingburg with burial to follow at Fairmount Cemetery in Huntingburg.  Pastor Mark West will officiate at the service.

Friends may call for visitation at the Nass & Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Sunday and also at the church from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. Monday morning.
