Gary Scott Cornwell, 73, of Bretzville, passed away Sunday, March 15, 2026, at his home.

Gary was born on May 28, 1952, in Bedford, Indiana, to Roger and Erlena (Williams) Cornwell.
Gary graduated from Orleans High School and continued his education at Indiana State University in Terre Haute. He earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from ISU. Gary taught for 33 years at Southeast Dubois County School Corporation.
He also worked as a radio color analyst at WITZ, WQKZ, and WUME. Gary was a proud and passionate supporter of Forest Park Football and basketball, and a prominent voice on the radio.

Gary was a lifelong learner. He was knowledgeable in many subjects and was naturally good at conversation. Safe to say Gary never met a stranger. He always encouraged young adults to pursue a higher education. His smile was contagious, his spirit generous. He was a force of nature, larger than life.
