Gardner promoted to first sergeant as District Investigative Commander

Monday, Indiana State Police Superintendent Douglas Carter promoted Sergeant Robert Gardner to the rank of first sergeant to serve as the District Investigative Commander for the Jasper Post.

Gardner is a native of Monroe County and a 1991 graduate of Edgewood High School. After high school, Gardner earned an Associate’s Degree in Law Enforcement from Vincennes University in 1993 and served his country for two years in the United States Army.

Gardner graduated from the Indiana State Police Recruit Academy in 1997. He was assigned to the Jasper District, patrolling Daviess County until 1999, when he was transferred to Spencer County.

Gardner was promoted to Detective in 2006, serving in Spencer County. In August, 2014, Gardner was promoted to the rank of Sergeant and worked as the Investigative Squad Leader for the Jasper Post.

Sergeant Gardner and his wife Becca reside in Spencer County. They have two children, Graham and Ali.
