Gabriel Bobu, 48, Jasper

Gabriel Bobu, 48, passed away peacefully at his home in Jasper on September 25, 20202, with his parents at his side.

He was courageous throughout his three-year challenging journey with colon cancer while maintaining his sense of humor. He was blessed with exceptional care providers in Jasper, Evansville, and Indianapolis.

Gabriel was born in Santa Cruz County California. Growing up in a beach town he developed his love for surfing and fishing at a young age. He was an active part of the family care team for his grandparents and uncle who embraced him as he joined them in heaven.

Gabriel graduated West Valley College in Saratoga, Calif. where he received an AA degree in liberal arts. He then transferred to UCSC for his bachelor’s degree. He worked in the tech industry as a project coordinator.

Gabriel loved English literature and the arts, especially the impressionists. His love for travel took him to England and across the United States and Canada twice with his mom. 

He moved to Jasper to join his parents who moved here in 2006 where he continued his enjoyment of travel around the Midwest. 

His radiant smile and love will always remain in our hearts.
