Frieda I. Hohler, 95, of Jasper, Indiana passed away at 6:55 a.m. Monday, (May 25, 2015), at the Northwood Retirement Community in Jasper.
She was born on September 22, 1919 at Celestine, Indiana to Frank and Margaret (Schnell) Heichelbech. She married Urban M. Hohler on June 17, 1947. He preceded her in death on November 26, 1995.
Frieda was a homemaker and member of Holy Family Catholic Church and the Blessed Virgin Sodality. She enjoyed camping, playing cards, embroidery, word searches and spending time with her children and grandchildren. She also enjoyed mother – daughter sleepovers.
She is survived by three daughters, Mary Lou Gehlhausen of Jasper, Ruth Seger and her husband Michael of Paoli and Donna Schwartz and her husband Gerald of Jasper; two sons, Dennis Hohler and his wife Becky of Jasper and Mark Hohler of Jasper; nine grandchildren, Kevin J. Gehlhausen and his wife Veronica, Teresa Giesler and her husband Mark, Keith Seger, Amy Graves and her husband Bradley, Jill Graham and her husband Daniel, Ryan Hohler and his wife Ashley, Scott Hohler, Brian Schwartz, and Jeffrey Schwartz and his wife Cari. eight great-grandchildren, Gavin Giesler, Coty Giesler, Jacob Graves, Austin Graves, Bentley Graham, Myla Hohler, Henry Schwartz, and Thomas Schwartz.
Preceding her in death besides her husband are six sisters, Cecelia Schroering, Bernadine Rape, Rose Pieper, Bertha Kossen Mahlman, Veronica Heichelbech and Helen Heichelbech who died in infancy, also three brothers, Herbert, Alois and Ray Heichelbech.
Funeral services for Frieda Hohler will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, May 28, 2015, in Holy Family Catholic Church with burial to follow in Fairview Cemetery in Jasper.
Friends may call from 2-8 p.m. Wednesday, May 27, 2015, at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper and one hour before services at church. Rosary will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday by the Blessed Virgin Sodality at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to Lange-Fuhs Cancer Center or to Holy Family Catholic.
