Fred Duncan, 85, Lakeland, Fla.
Fred Duncan was born on June 4, 1937, in Brazil, Indiana to Chester and Ruby Duncan who eventually settled in Huntingburg, Indiana. He transitioned from this earth to heaven on the morning of April 25, 2023, at Good Shepherd Hospice in Lakeland, Florida.

Fred was the youngest of five children, Raymond Duncan, Bill Duncan, and twins Bob and Alice Ann Duncan, all of whom have preceded him in death. His beloved wife, Joan Brinson Duncan, died on April 2, 2015, in Indianapolis, Indiana.
Fred played football in high school and later began a career in the Indiana coal mines working in explosives, which eventually led to working for the United Mine Workers. The last half of his career was spent in sales, in which he was successful as no one was a stranger to Fred. He loved people, and all those who knew him enjoyed his wonderful sense of humor.
Fred’s firstborn child and only son, Douglas Duncan, died in 2004 at the age of 42 in Lakeland, Florida. He is survived by daughters, Londa Duncan of Lakeland, Florida, and Darah Ann Duncan Henthorne of Memphis, Tennessee, and her son Oliver. Fred lived with Londa after the death of his wife and until he joined her in heaven. Fred also has nieces and nephews in Indiana whom he loved.
Fred loved music and sang in churches in his younger years. In his last few years on earth, it was not uncommon to hear him singing in the house. His Bible was always beside his chair as he read it often, and he was available for all who needed to talk or needed a friend.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, May 20, 2023, at 11:00 AM at Community of Christ Church, 4515 Old Road 37, Lakeland, Florida 33813.
