Franklin D. “Bud” Grimes, 88, Danville

Franklin D. “Bud” Grimes, 88, of Danville, formerly of Birdseye, Indiana, passed away on Saturday, December 3, 2022, at his residence in Danville.

He was born November 23, 1934, in Scuddy, Kentucky, to William and Lucinda (Sexton) Grimes.

He married Ima Kathleen Smith on July 29, 1954, in Paoli, Indiana. 

Franklin worked as a high lineman with the IBEW Union #1393 for 58 years. He was a member of the Bethlehem Masonic Lodge #574 F&AM in Birdseye and the Birdseye Order of the Eastern Star #391. 

He was preceded in death by one son, Frank Grimes; his mother and father; two sisters, Bobby Jean Winnings and Florence Holland; six brothers, Bill, Steve, Lonnie, Leonard, Larence and Luther Grimes; and one grandson, Justin.

He is survived by his wife, Ima Kathleen Grimes of Danville; five children, Phyllis (Mike) Arkanoff of St. Petersburg, Florida, Karen Richardson of Indianapolis, Linda (Doug) Reynolds of Coatesville, Ronald (Sabrina) Grimes of Indianapolis and Rhonda Grimes of Indianapolis; daughter-in-law, Sharon Grimes of Indianapolis; one sister, Ana Mae Clements of Florida; 20 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services for Franklin “Bud” Grimes will be held at 1:00 p.m. EST on Saturday, December 10, 2022, at the Nass & Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg, with burial to follow at Mentor Cemetery near Birdseye. Rev. Albert Madden will officiate at the service. The Birdseye Order of the Eastern Star and the Bethlehem Masonic Lodge will both conduct vigils during the funeral service.

Friends may call for visitation at the Nass & Son Funeral Home from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, the day of the service.
