Frances E. Meyer, 87

Frances E. Meyer, 87, of Ferdinand, died Sunday December 8, 2013 at Memorial Hospital and Healthcare Center.

She was born May 17, 1926 to Anthony and Minnie (McKenzie) Kunkler in Huntingburg. She married Eugene J. Meyer on May 6, 1947 in Huntingburg. He preceded her in death on October 5, 1992.

Frances is survived by seven daughters, Nancy Knies and husband Hermie of Jasper, Jane Meyer of Jasper, Marilyn Hagerman and husband Everett of Ooltewah, Tenn., Connie Gehlhausen and husband Ronald of Birdseye, Bonnie Gehlhausen and husband Chris of Birdseye, Lisa Gehlhausen and husband Robert of Huntingburg, and Joan Meyer of Evansville; two sons, Donald Meyer and wife Paulette of Newburgh and David Meyer of Ferdinand; 11 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren also survive.

Frances was preceded in death by two daughters, Theresa Wehr and Angela Ramsey; one grandson Tim Schneller and a son in infancy Ralph Meyer; four sisters, Gloria Kunkler, Mary Gramelspacher, Dorothy Schnepper and Verena Steffen; three brothers, Ben, Anthony and Rev. Fr. Victor Kunkler.

Frances was retired from General Electric in Huntingburg. She was a member of St. Ferdinand Catholic Church. Her hobbies included word search books, cooking and baking.

Visitation will be Wednesday from 2-8 p.m. and Thursday from 7:00-9:30 a.m. at Becher Funeral Home in Ferdinand. Funeral services will be Thursday at 10:00 a.m. in St. Ferdinand Catholic Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery.
