Four new troopers begin solo patrols at the Jasper Post

Jasper — Indiana has 47 new troopers assigned to state police districts throughout the state now patrolling the roads, four of which have been assigned to the Jasper Post.

Trooper Michael Allen, Trooper Andrew Beaver, Trooper Jason Dunsworth and Trooper Coty Seifert graduated on December 21, 2012 and received their patrol cars on Monday at the Indiana State Police Museum.

The troopers received approximately 917 hours of structured training at the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy. Their curriculum included; administrative subjects, general police subjects, investigations/criminal subjects, criminal and traffic law subjects.

The new troopers then completed a three month field training period with seasoned troopers where they were observed applying the knowledge and training that had been gained at the academy and applying it to real life situations.

Trooper Allen graduated from Springs Valley High School in 1997. After high school he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. In 2000 Allen became a police officer for the town of West Baden. In 2005 he accepted a Deputy position with the Orange County Sheriff’s Office. In 2008 Allen left the Sheriff’s Office and went to work for Fuhs Properties while still serving as a reserve officer for the town of French Lick. Trooper Allen will primarily patrol Orange County.

Trooper Andrew Beaver is a 2004 graduate from Martinsville High School. After high school Beaver enlisted in the US Navy. While in the Navy Beaver served in South Korea, California, and Afghanistan. Beaver still serves in the US Navy as a reservist. Prior to joining the Indiana State Police Beaver worked at IU Health Proton Therapy in Bloomington. Beaver will primarily patrol Daviess County.
Trooper Andrew Beaver is a 2004 graduate from Martinsville High School. After high school Beaver enlisted in the US Navy. While in the Navy Beaver served in South Korea, California, and Afghanistan. In 2004 after returning home from the Air Force Dunsworth began his law enforcement career with the Santa Claus Police Department then in 2007 he was hired by the Spencer County Sheriff’s Office where he worked until being hired by the Indiana State Police. Trooper Dunsworth will primarily patrol Crawford County.

While enlisted in the Marine Corps Coty did one tour in Iraq. After returning home from the Marine Corps and prior to being accepted to the 72nd Indiana State Police Recruit School Coty worked for Waupaca and Webb Wheel in Tell City. Trooper Seifert will primarily patrol Crawford County.
Trooper Coty Seifert is a 2007 graduate of Perry Central High School. After graduation Coty reported to Parris Island to begin his four year career with the U.S. Marine Corps.
