Four candidates seeking Messmer’s vacated Indiana Senate seat

Tonight, a caucus of Republican precinct committee members from State District 48 will determine who among four candidates will finish State Senator Mark Messmer’s term.

Messmer was chosen in the primary to represent the Republican Party as its candidate for the 8th Congressional District in the upcoming general election.

Three candidates are from Dubois County–Dubois County Clerk Amy Kippenbrock, Dubois County Councilman Daryl Schmitt, and Dr. Richard Moss–and one from Spencer County–Indiana State Police Chief Legal Counsel Major Todd E. Smith.

The caucus will convene at Jasper High School at 7 p.m. on Wednesday evening in Jasper.

Indiana GOP has said the proceedings will be livestreamed.
