Former Jasper resident killed in off-road accident

An off-road vehicle (ORV) accident near Martinsville claimed the life of a former Jasper resident.

Indiana Conservation Officers investigated an accident involving Michael A. Salb, 26, Martinsville, that occurred around 9 p.m. Saturday.

Salb was operating a Polaris Razor side-by-side on his property off Goose Creek Road and while attempting to go downhill the ORV rolled on its side, pinning Salb underneath. According to conservation officers, a passenger in the ORV called 911 and attempted to remove the vehicle from Salb. However, when emergency medical services arrived on scene, Salb was unresponsive.

Salb was declared deceased a short time later.

Salb graduated from Jasper High School and was the son of Gary and Nancy (Haas) Salb of Jasper.

The Morgan County Sheriff’s Department, Gregg Township Volunteer Fire Department, Morgan County Emergency Medical Services, the Paragon Volunteer Fire Company and the Morgan County Coroner’s Office assisted at the scene.
