A Daviess County woman was arrested Friday on a drug warrant related to dealing drugs from a Jasper business.
Daviess County police arrested 45-year-old Jennifer Sellers of Elnora at about 9 a.m. for a warrant for possession of methamphetamine, legend prescription drugs, marijuana, controlled substances, and paraphernalia. She was then brought to Dubois County and booked into the Dubois County Security Center.
Sellers managed the Verizon Wireless store, 3780 N. Newton St., until June 30, when the Dubois County Sheriff’s Department narcotics officer, an Indiana State Police K-9, and a Jasper police officer went to her place of employment to investigate alleged drug activity.
According to the Dubois County narcotics officer, he had received complaints about suspected drug activity at the business involving Sellers. He also noticed some unusual pseudo-ephedrine purchases by other individuals associated with Sellers at the business. Purchases of over-the-counter medications containing pseudo-ephedrine are monitored by a log kept by businesses to track purchases of the medications that contain the ingredient used in meth production.
When officers went to the business at about 2 p.m. on June 30, they spoke with Sellers and she admitted to possessing a pipe on her person. She then gave officers permission to search her vehicle. During the search, they found meth, a large amount of pills, marijuana and other substances.
According to the narcotics officer, she was released on her own recognizance on June 30 due to her cooperation during the investigation.
Last week, she was arrested on a warrant for the following charges: Class B felony methamphetamine possession; three Class C felony charges of illegal possession of controlled substances; and Class D felony illegal possession of a legend (prescription) drug. She was also charged with misdemeanor counts of possession of marijuana and paraphernalia.
The Dubois County Sheriff’s Department would like to thank individuals in the community who come forward with information about illegal drug activities. If drug activity is suspected, the department can be reached at 812-482-3522.
