Former Bomber Steve Cishek sets Florida Marlins Record

Former Dubois County Bomber pitcher Steve Cishek recently pulled off a big double play on June 10th when he recorded his first major league save and set a Marlins record by starting his career with 12 2/3 scoreless innings.

“That’s kind of a cool thing to hear when you come into a locker room,” Cishek said after learning that he broke Matt Turner’s 1993 record of 11 2/3 scoreless innings.

Since then Cishek has made two more appearances and has yet to give up a run. His streak now stands at 15 2/3 innings. Cishek played his college ball at Carson Newman and was with the Bombers in 2006 and 2007. He a 5th round draft choice of the Marlins in 2007.

The Bombers return home tonight for a 7:15 game against the Terre Haute Rex. It will be Thirsty Thursday at the ballpark, with 12 oz draft Bud and Bud Light on sale for just $2.00. All 16oz bottles will be discounted to $3.00. The Bombers are proud to be welcoming the Dubois County Leadership Academy for their night at the game.
