Former Bomber Steve Cishek sets Florida Marlins Record
Former Dubois County Bomber pitcher Steve Cishek recently pulled off a big double play on June 10th when he recorded his first major league save and set a Marlins record by starting his career with 12 2/3 scoreless innings.
“That’s kind of a cool thing to hear when you come into a locker room,” Cishek said after learning that he broke Matt Turner’s 1993 record of 11 2/3 scoreless innings.
Since then Cishek has made two more appearances and has yet to give up a run. His streak now stands at 15 2/3 innings. Cishek played his college ball at Carson Newman and was with the Bombers in 2006 and 2007. He a 5th round draft choice of the Marlins in 2007.
The Bombers return home tonight for a 7:15 game against the Terre Haute Rex. It will be Thirsty Thursday at the ballpark, with 12 oz draft Bud and Bud Light on sale for just $2.00. All 16oz bottles will be discounted to $3.00. The Bombers are proud to be welcoming the Dubois County Leadership Academy for their night at the game. Also at the game will be groups from Holiday World and Budweiser. Holiday World will be giving away tickets to lucky fans throughout the game. The Bombers travel to Terre Haute for a Friday night game before returning to League Stadium on Saturday and Sunday when they host the Springfield Sliders.
