Food tour explores Dubois County farms

The Dubois County Local Foods Tour will take participants on a tour of Dubois County farms on Monday, October 30 to explore what local food production currently looks like and how it contributes to the health of county residents and the local economy.

The tour will leave from the Dubois County 4-H Fairgrounds near Bretzville, 4157 S SR 162, at 8:00 a.m. and will return at 1:30 p.m. Plan to arrive at the fairgrounds at 7:30 a.m.

Stops for this year’s tour will include Fischer Farms (beef), Lindauer Family Dairy Farm (dairy), and Southern Indiana Purdue Ag Center (aquaculture, goats, beef). The tour will visit Sander Processing to learn more about local butcher shops and the role Dubois County butchers play in local food chains for southern Indiana.

Due to limited size, reservations are required by phoning 812-482-1782 the Purdue Extension – Dubois County office. Please reserve your seat by Wednesday, October 11, 2017. Cost for this event will be $10.00 per person.
