Food Inspection Reports Oct. 5 to Nov. 8, 2020

The following inspection reports are from inspections conducted from October 5 to November 8, 2020.

Inspection results from the Dubois County Health Department are published publicly after the restaurants and food stores have had 10 days to respond. Violations are corrected on the day of the inspection unless otherwise noted.

Holland American Legion Post #343, Main Street, Holland — One critical violation: Facility does not have a valid food manager certificate.

Applebee’s, Mannheim Road, Jasper — One critical violation: Product being held in topping table with broken door did not meet the appropriate 41 degrees F or lower. One non-critical violation: One topping table in kitchen as well as the doors of the walk-in freezer and refrigerator are broken and allowing warm air in.

Catering by Meyer, Old State Road 162, Huntingburg — No violations observed at the time of inspection.

Chicken Place, St. Road 56, Ireland — No violations observed at the time of inspection.

New China’s Best, 3669 Newton Street, Jasper — Two non-critical violations: Excessive water buildup in bottom of topping table cooler; excessive dirt/grease buildup on floors, vents and food contact surfaces (both repeat violations).

Chocolate Bliss, E. 5th Street, Jasper — No violations observed at the time of inspection.

Circle “A” Food Mart #106, State Road 64, Birdseye — No violations observed at the time of inspection.

Citgo, Northside, 2707 Newton Street, Jasper — One non-critical violation: Ventilation filter in cooking area has built up dust (repeat violation).

CVS Pharmacy #6878, 617 W. 6th Street, Jasper — No violations observed at the time of inspection.

Days Inn of Jasper, Brucke Strasse, Jasper — No violations observed at the time of inspection.

Dollar Tree #01349, 3601 Newton Street, Jasper — One non-critical violation: Food storage items were overserved on floor of storeroom and walk-in freezer and refrigerator (repeat violation).

Gaslight Pizza, Fourth Street, Huntingburg — One critical violation: Observed multiple food items without dates throughout facility (repeat violation).

Grounded, U.S. Highway 231, Jasper — No violations observed at the time of inspection.

Hampton Inn, 3rd Avenue, Jasper — No violations observed at the time of inspection.

Hot Spot Bar & Grill, E. Main Street, Dubois — No violations observed at the time of inspection.

Huck’s #350, Hoffman Road, Jasper — One critical violation: Food in reach-in coolers were past sell-by date (chocolate milk, cottage cheese, and lunchmeat) (Repeat violation). Four non-critical violations: food observed being stored on floor of walk-in freezer; excessive buildup of ice present in walk-in freezer causing door to not close properly, affecting the temperature of the product inside; debris/dirt observed on soda nozzles of main soda dispensing machine; mops are not being properly stored after use to allow them to air dry (all repeat violations).

Jasper Community Arts, College Avenue, Jasper — No violations observed at the time of inspection.

Klub Haus 61, Newton Street, Jasper — No violations observed at the time of inspection.

New Super Buffet, 3920 N. Newton Street, Jasper — Two non-critical violations: Food in freezer being stored in plastic bags (repeat violation); floor in walk-in freezer and refrigerator is in need of repair.

Pizza Hut, N. Main Street, Huntingburg — One non-critical violation: Utensils and food storage containers in production area have buildup as well as the floors throughout the facility.

Quality Inn, E. 22nd Street, Huntingburg — One non-critical violation: refrigerators throughout building were missing appropriate temperature measuring devices (repeat violation).

Sunset Citgo, Third Avenue, Jasper — No violations observed at the time of inspection.

Super 8, Indiana Street, Jasper — One non-critical violation: Dirt/mold/debris buildup present in ice machine.

Taco Bell, Newton Street, Jasper — No violations observed at the time of inspection.

Wendy’s #340, Main Street, Ferdinand — Two critical violations: Observed potentially hazardous food items cold held at about 55 degrees F; Observed significant dirt/grease/food debris throughout establishment debris on food and nonfood contact surfaces (all repeat violations).

Christian Ministries of Huntingburg, Fourth Street, Huntingburg — No violations observed at the time of inspection.

Dubois County Community Food Bank, Meridian Road, Jasper — No violations observed at the time of inspection.

Dubois County Community Meals, Meridian Road, Jasper — Facility closed due to Covid-19.

Dubois County Security Center — No violations observed at the time of inspection.

Jimmy John’s Gourmet Sandwiches, Jasper — No violations observed at the time of inspection.

Wings Etc, Newton Street, Jasper — Three non-critical violations: Handwashing sink was unable to reach 100 degrees F (repeat violation); Warewashing machine was unable to reach the necessary temperature of 194 degrees F; the temperature of the wash solution in 3-compartment sink was not at 110 degrees F which isn’t sufficient to activate cleaning ingredients.
