Folk Fest receives $4,000 grant from Community Foundation
The Ferdinand Folk Festival recently received a $4,000 grant from the Dubois County Community Foundation to support its continued growth and future sustainability. The grant money represents partial funding of a grant application from early 2014.
“One of the financial goals of the Folk Fest is to create a funding mechanism that would allow for less year-over-year fundraising endeavors,” said Ken Sicard, Ferdinand Town Council president. “We are very grateful at this show of support and belief from the Community Foundation.”
This year marks the fifth year for the annual Ferdinand Folk Festival. The event, presented by premier-level sponsor Best Home Furnishings, will be held on Saturday, September 20, 2014, in Ferdinand’s beautiful 18th Street Park.
“The Folk Festival has reinvigorated a public green space as an informal gathering spot for people of all ages and backgrounds to enjoy the performing arts,” said the Dubois County Community Foundation CEO, Brad Ward. “This grant seeks to ensure the Folk Fest continues as a high quality, free event.”
