Florentine (Marge) Block, 81, of Jasper, Indiana, passed away at 11:22 a.m. on Saturday, July 5, 2014, at Brookside Village in Jasper.
She was born in Jasper, Indiana on November 20, 1932 to Silas A. and Marie (Englehart) Giesler. She married James A. Block on September 3, 1955, in Holy Family Catholic Church in Jasper. He preceded her in death on December 13, 2013.
Marge was a homemaker and member of Holy Family Catholic Church and its Blessed Virgin Sodality.
She was a member of the V.F.W. Post #673 Auxiliary, the American Legion Post #147 Auxiliary, and the Disabled American Veterans Chapter #77 Auxiliary.
She enjoyed playing cards, watching IU Basketball, and spending time with family and grandchildren.
She is survived by two daughters, Pam Lueken and her husband Wayne, of Birdseye and Angie Kleinhelter and her husband Tom, of Jasper; three sons, Steve Block and his wife Ann, of Jasper, Mark Block and his wife Jan, of Jasper, and David Block and his wife Terri, Capitola , Cali.; 17 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; seven sisters, Bernice Matheis, Ruth Elliott, Shirley Mehringer and her husband Jerome, Betty Wildman and her husband James, Sue Friedman and her husband John, Linda Giesler, and Viola Brickey, all of Jasper,; five brothers, Larry Giesler and his wife Robin, of Indianapolis, Ed Giesler and his wife Helen, of Ireland, Bill Giesler and his wife Joann, of Jasper, Don Giesler and his wife Virlee, of Jasper, and Terry Giesler and his wife Julie, of Jasper.
Preceding her in death besides her husband are two sisters; Virginia Turk and Mary Jane Giesler and two brothers; Robert and Charles Giesler.
Funeral services for Marge Block will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 9, 2014, at Holy Family Catholic Church in Jasper, with burial to follow in Fairview Cemetery in Jasper.
Friends may call from 2:00-8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 8, 2014, at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper, and from 9:00 a.m. until the 10:00 a.m. service time at the church on Wednesday. The Sodality of the Blessed Virgin Mary will pray the rosary at 1:45 p.m. on Tuesday. The V.F.W. Post #673 Auxiliary will conduct a memorial service at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
