Florence O. Cox, 94, Jasper

Florence O. Cox, 94, of Jasper, formerly of Marseilles, Ill., passed away Thursday, March 10, 2022, at St. Charles Health Campus in Jasper.

Visitation and funeral service occurred on Monday, March 14 at Seals-Campbell Funeral Home in Marseilles, with burial in Riverview Cemetery in Marseilles.

Florence was born June 18, 1927, in Marseilles, to William and Ivy (Sackett) Hott. On April 24, 1944, she married Arlie Eirhart of Marseilles but became a Gold Star widow when he was killed in combat in November of 1944.

Florence enjoyed walking, gardening, and canning the food she grew. She worked at several restaurants in Marseilles.

She is survived by her two sons, Kenneth (Judy) Cox of Jasper and Gary (Gayle) Cox of Fair Play, Mos.; her two daughters, Sandra Rivers of Mammoth Springs, Ark. and Tammy Cox of Streator, Ill.; one brother, Wayne Hott of Eustis, Fla.; 12 grandchildren; seven step-grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; 26 great-great-grandchildren; and many step-great and great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Arlie; her four brothers, Neiman, William, Ike, and Clifford; and three sisters, Harriet Vincent, Sarah Reppine, and Patricia Hott.
