Florence C. Gardner, 102, Jasper, passed at 12:54 p.m. Friday, July 15, 2016, at St. Charles Health Campus in Jasper.

Florence was born in Jasper, Indiana, on January 19, 1914 to Edward and Elizabeth (Seng) Otto. She married Melvin Gardner on November 8, 1934. He preceded her in death on March 14, 1987.

Florence worked as a sales person at the former Reising and Taicherts on the Square in Jasper. She was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, the St. Ann’s Society, Jasper D of I, American Legion Post #147 Auxiliary, Memorial Hospital Auxiliary and AARP. She embroidered over 300 quilt blocks for Precious Blood and Holy Family Catholic Churches and for the R.S.V.P.

She is survived by several nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death besides her husband are four sisters, Frances M. Schuch, Anna Otto, Emma Bohnert, and Henrietta Haase, and one brother Ollie Otto.

Funeral services for Florence C. Gardner will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 23, 2016, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Jasper, with burial to follow in Fairview Cemetery in Jasper.

Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. until the 11:00 a.m. service time at the church on Saturday.
