Flag disposal training and ceremony scheduled for June 11
The Dubois County Veterans Council will hold a flag disposal ceremony Saturday, June 11 at 1 p.m.
The ceremony will take place at the Dubois County 4H Fairgrounds. Everyone is invited to bring their worn flags to be properly disposed no matter the size. All Veterans organizations will be represented during this honorable disposal of U.S. flag.
Keith Ingram Vice-President of the DCVC will be Master of Ceremonies. The Recycled Teenagers under the direction of Bernie Jeffries will sing the National Anthem and other patriotic songs. Sgt. Eric Vonderheide will recite the “Red Skelton’s Pledge of Allegiance and a ceremony to remember our POWs and MIAs will be given by Steve Bartels. A bugler will play TO THE COLORS and a 21 gun salute will follow to show respect for the worn flags.
Used flags can be dropped off at all veteran organizations or brought to the ceremony for proper disposal.
The Dubois County Veterans Council would like to thank the 4H Council to allow the use of their facility, Recycled Teenagers for wanting to participate for this ceremony and the St. Anthony Fire Department for providing the safety for this event. Some bleachers will be available or you may bring your lawn chairs for this event.
Before the Ceremony, a flag etiquette course hosted by Boy Scout Troop and Crew 182 along with the Southern Indiana Leathernecks will be given in the morning for the public.
The course will begin at 9 a.m. and conclude with the 1 p.m. Flag Disposal Ceremony.
