First Christmas Lights Express

Jasper kindergarten through fifth-grade students were invited to participate in the Christmas Lights Express on Thursday evening.

Participants met Santa at the corporation bus maintenance office. They had snacks and hot chocolate before boarding one of the five buses for a tour of the winners of the Jasper Jaycees and Chamber Outdoor Decoration Contest.

Here are a few photos of the event.

Santa Claus (Jasper Elementary School Principal Kent Taylor) and an elf (Emmalynn Grothouse) posed with Alis Flores, 6, as she held her ticket for the tour of Jasper’s outdoor decorations. Moana Torres, 7, sat next to her friend Alis.
Students posed for a photo on the bus driven by School Resource Officer Jason Knies.
The Grinch (Amanda Grothouse) waved at the buses as they left for the tour.
Students sang songs and played with their phones between decorative spots along the route. Knies’ bus led the tour; the following bus lights outlined the pair as they checked their phones.
“Look! A floating star!” exclaimed one student as they passed the star on Hochgesang’s grain bin on State Road 162.
Melany Torres, 10, lowered the window of the bus as it approached a special treat along the route.
Santa Clause (Alan Litteken) waved at the kids as the buses went by his home on the route.
Zahilin Diaz, 9, rode in the front of the bus with Officer Knies as they traveled around Jasper.
Megan Wehr and fourth grader Harper Wood served up hot chocolate after the tour.
