Fireworks; Be a good neighbor says Jasper Fire Chief

Jasper Fire Chief Kenny Hochgesang has issued information regarding the safe and proper use of fireworks this 4th of July.

“One thing fireworks users tend to forget is that they are responsible for where fireworks are set off, where they go and the mess they leave behind,” said Hochgesang.

He recommends a following a good neighbor policy. “Users need to clean up firework remnants from city streets, sidewalks and their property and be mindful not to leave firework trash in your neighbor’s yards and properties.”

The chief reminds citizens of state laws pertaining to the use of fireworks:

Fireworks may be used:

  • Only on the user’s property or on the property of someone who has consent to their use on that property.
  • At a special discharge location.

Consumer fireworks may be used from July 1 through July 3 from 9 a.m. to two hours past sunset and on July 4 from 9 a.m. to midnight.
