Fireworks accident in Shoals leads to 49-year-old being airlifted

The Martin County Sheriff’s Office investigated a fireworks-related accident on Saturday morning in Shoals.

On June 30, 2018, at 11:33 a.m., the Martin County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call of a fireworks accident which occurred on Mill Road near Shoals. The caller stated the injured subject was transported in a black passenger car to the parking lot of RJ’s Convenience Store.

Sergeant Keith Keller was in Shoals and immediately responded.

Sergeant Keller and units from the Shoals Volunteer Fire Department arrived within two minutes. After Sergeant Keller observed the extent of the subject’s hand injury, he immediately requested the assistance of Air Evac. The subject was identified as John M. Osborne, 49, of Loogootee.

Martin County EMS arrived on scene and transported Osborne to a landing zone in Shoals. Air Evac transported Osborne to the University of Louisville Hospital. Osborne’s condition wasn’t known at the time of this release.

Responding agencies were: Martin County Sheriff’s Office, Shoals Volunteer Fire Department, Martin County EMS, and Air Evac.
