Fire: County worried about dry, windy conditions

The Dubois County Fire Chiefs and the Emergency Management Agency are
currently monitoring the dry conditions in Dubois County and although the county is not currently under a burn ban the potential for fires going out of control is a major concern.

The ground and vegetation is very dry, and along with the expected winds this week will make it extremely easy for controlled burns to get out of
control very fast.

They are requesting residents to refrain from doing any type of burning with the exception of campfires and recreational fires that are
continuously accompanied and enclosed in a fire ring with dimensions of 23 inches in diameter with a 10-inch high or taller ring.

They also want to remind residents that burning trash is illegal in the state of Indiana.

Please be responsible if you must burn. Take all precautions necessary
to prevent out of control fires, and as always please contact the Dubois County Communications center and notify them if you plan to burn brush or other outdoor vegetation on your property.

The fire department chiefs are currently monitoring the situation and if conditions continue to deteriorate a burn ban could be issued very soon.
