Fire ban lifted in Dubois County

The burn ban has been lifted for Dubois County.

According to a release from the County Emergency Management Office, the Dubois County Commissioners and Fire Chiefs have agreed to lift the burn ban that has been in effect since June 22.

Rain throughout the county has varied significantly with the southern portion receive over three to four inches and middle to northern portion receiving about two.  According to the Emergency Management Agency Director Tammy Miller the chiefs agreed the foliage is becoming greener and things are looking up, but they will continue to monitor the situation.

Miller included a notice of what can and cannot be burned. Residents can burn clean wood products such as trees and bushes, but cannot burn plastic, cans, bottles, wire, tires, scrap food waste, Processed lumber or treated lumber.

Recreational or ceremonial fires are allowed such as campfires, charcoal or propane barbecue grills.
