Final opportunities to attend free mental health first aid classes through community partnership

Community members are encouraged to take advantage of one of the final opportunities to attend a free Mental Health First Aid class, made possible through a partnership between the Dubois County Community Foundation, Memorial Medical Center Foundation, and Deaconess Wellness Solutions Jasper.

For the past year, this partnership has provided community members with access to Mental Health First Aid training at no cost, helping equip individuals with the knowledge and confidence to recognize and respond to mental health challenges. As this initiative approaches its conclusion in the coming months, only a limited number of free classes remain. Those interested in participating are encouraged to register now while this opportunity is still available.

Mental Health First Aid is an educational program designed to help individuals recognize the signs and symptoms of mental health challenges and substance use concerns, provide initial support, and connect individuals with appropriate resources and professional assistance.

Much like traditional first aid teaches individuals how to respond to physical health emergencies, Mental Health First Aid provides practical tools to support someone who may be experiencing a mental health challenge or crisis.

Remaining Class Dates:

  • October 19, 2026 – Spanish-language class
  • October 21, 2026
  • November 9, 2026
  • December 10, 2026

All classes will be held at the Deaconess Memorial Southside Office in Jasper.

Through the generosity and collaboration of the three partnering organizations, these classes have been offered free of charge, removing financial barriers to valuable mental health education. While the current funding initiative is nearing its end, the knowledge and skills gained through this training can continue to make a lasting impact throughout the community.
