Ferdinand unveils 175th Anniversary Celebration logo; announces raffle winners
Ferdinand — The Ferdinand 175th Organizing Committee released the official logo for the 175th Celebration coming in 2015.
The logo was unveiled at a special celebration held Wednesday night to announce the winners of a special raffle.
The logo is a combination of the Town of Ferdinand logo and elements denoting the 175th anniversary of the town’s founding by in 1840.
The 175th logo features a silhouette of the Ferdinand landscape and the dates 1840-2015. Lettering identifies Ferdinand’s German heritage and the lettering style of the St. Ferdinand High School Crusaders. The blue and gold colors of the logo match the town’s logo with a dominate “175” to highlight the town’s anniversary. The word “celebrating” is also part of the logo as Ferdinand begins it’s commemoration of 175 years of progress.
Six stars floating over the townscape represent the Ferdinand Hometown Competiveness Committee’s original 6 pillars of Youth, Entrepreneurship/Business and Community Development, Ferdinand Community Foundation, Leadership, Population Growth, and Tourism.
The logos were designed by Hannah Beck.
The organizing committee held a raffle to raise start-up funds for the upcoming celebration. The Ferdinand 175th drew out names from the 400 tickets sold by committee members and announced the following winners: $10,000.00 Grand Prize Winner- Don and Sheila Kerstiens of Ferdinand; $2,500.00- James and Diane King of Ferdinand; and $1,000.00 Pat and Ruth Lueken of Ferdinand.
Ferdinand will celebrate it’s 175th anniversary in mid-June of 2015.
A Facebook page, Ferdinand 175, has also been created and a website, www.ferdinand175.com, is currently under construction.
