Ferdinand Town Council to appoint new police chief Tuesday

The Ferdinand Town Council is expected to make a decision on the police chief position on Tuesday night at a special meeting.

The town council will conduct an executive session at the Ferdinand Town Hall on Tuesday, June 18, 2013 at 5:30 p.m. The purpose of the Executive Session is to receive information about prospective employees for the chief of police position.

The Ferdinand Town Council will then meet in a special session Tuesday night at 7:00 p.m. The purpose of the special meeting will be to discuss and potentially hire an individual for the Police Chief (Town Marshall) position

According to the town, four of the five full time officers have applied for the position; an individual from Virginia who now lives in Jasper has applied; and a Louisiana man who graduated from Forest Park High School has applied.

Lt. Rob Randle has served as interim police chief while the hiring process was conducted after former-chief Ted Bieker stepped down from his position on May 17. Bieker is now a captain in the department.
