Ferdinand Town Council meeting Feb. 14
A power outage that affected about 2/3 of the Town of Ferdinand came up at last nights Ferdinand Town Council meeting. Utility Superintendent Henry Haake says that a circuit breaker failed at one of the substations, which affected power for most of the town including essential emergency services.
Haake says they are okay for now but would like to add a circuit breaker to separate the different parts of town. “The one will handle the load butI would like to keep it separate so if there is a problem for the south side of town it only takes out the south side of town.”
Haake reports that these are not your average circuit breakers in your home electrical box – they can cost between $25,000 to $30,000. They are currently obtaining quotes on the item.
In other news, quote openings were held on three important projects in the town:
- The Police Station: The low quote for the Police Station came from Seufert Construction in the amount of $179,694.00 and a time line for completion of 180 days.
- The Town Hall parking lot resurfacing: The low quote for the Town Hall parking lot was also from Seufert Construction for $98,900.00 for asphalt.
- The Street Improvement Projects: The low quote for street improvements came from Calcar Paving of Jasper in the amount of $146,925.82.
