Ferdinand seeking help in building community calendar on town’s website

In a continued effort to make the town’s website a relevant source of information and communication for the citizens of Ferdinand, a new effort has begun to collect information about events in the community.

The website for the town currently has an events calendar for people interested in community events, but the new intern, Victoria Van Winkle, is leading an effort to make it a more comprehensive listing of events. Recently the town added a reporting tool for citizens to  fill out and submit forms online to report incidents, provide feedback, and request tours; an updated and comprehensive community calendar is the next step in their continued efforts.

“Our community has a lot going on,” said Town Manager Marc Steczyk. “Many events would benefit more fully if their efforts didn’t conflict with another group’s event. Our goal is to have as complete of a community calendar as we can so that, when a group or committee is planning an event, they can use our website as a reference to check for any conflicting events.

Steczyk stated that the town is relying on citizens to contact the town about events they are planning.Information, especially about annual events scheduled with much advance, is wanted to keep all members of the Town informed with current information.

Dates, times, and details can be sent to Van Winkle at msteczyk@ferdinandindiana.org, to the Town office by mail (2065 Main Street, P.O. Box 7), or be called in at 367-2282. The deadline for event submission is Wednesday, February 29, 2012.
