Ferdinand rescinds fireworks ban
The Town of Ferdinand has rescinded its indefinite emergency declaration regarding the use of fireworks within its jurisdictional boundaries. That declaration had been in effect since Saturday, June 30, 2012.
The rescinding of the declaration had been delayed due to the Town Council president, Ken Sicard, and the Ferdinand Volunteer Fire Chief, Dan Lindauer, both currently being out of state. Based on consultation with the Town’s legal attorneys, Sicard, and Assistant Fire Chief Donnie Mohr, Ferdinand Town Manager Marc Steczyk has been given the authority remove the declaration which is effective immediately.
“While we certainly can’t mandate when people choose to display the fireworks they may have saved from the Fourth of July weekend, we are strongly encouraging that celebrations involving fireworks take place over the course of the upcoming Labor Day weekend,” said Steczyk.
