Ferdinand police vehicle hit; authorities seeking suspect

Dubois County deputies and Ferdinand officers are asking for help from the public to locate a vehicle that ran into the rear of a Ferdinand Police Department vehicle.

According to authorities, they responded to an accident involving the Ferdinand department’s 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee at about 1:50 a.m. Witnesses of the accident that occurred at the intersection of 17th and Virginia streets told officers they saw a silver vehicle leaving the scene after hearing the crash. The silver vehicle was northbound on Virginia Street.

The suspect vehicle has been identified as a late blue/grey 1998 or 1999 Toyota Avalon 4-door that has damage to the front passenger side and should be missing part of its bumper.

The Jeep, which was parked at the time, was hit in the rear driver’s side and damages are estimated to be over $5,000.
