Ferdinand man arrested for child molestation

Update: Verkamp made his first appearance in court Thursday and entered a not-guilty plea. His next court date has been set for Aug. 27. He has a $5200 cash-only bond.

Dubois County Sheriff’s Department arrested a Ferdinand man for sexual contact with a child under 14 years old.

Scott A. Verkamp, 50, was taken into custody Wednesday for Class A and Class C felony counts of child molesting stemming from an investigation conducted by the Sheriff’s Department. The investigation was initiated from information received on Aug. 8 about the events.
