Ferdinand launches an iPhone App
Ferdinand — Residents in Ferdinand can now stay in touch with the town management through an Iphone App they officially launched on Wednesday.
The Town of Ferdinand’s iPhone app is now available for free download in the iPhone’s App Store. The town’s Android platform smartphone app is still in development and is expected to be available soon.
The smartphone app provides efficient and easy to use “buttons” for seven main areas: news, the Citizen’s Action Center (allowing for residents to immediately report concerns), Town events, Town Departments and municipal code information, services, social media, and photos.
According to Town Manager Marc Steczyk, the app has been in development since last fall and he is looking forward to residents using it to access the town’s event calendar and news. “The Citizens’ Action Center is also exciting for us,” Steczyk said. “Residents can take a photo of an issue and submit it directly to our supervisors. Being able to add a photo makes it easier for us to identify and fix problems that are reported.”
The app was developed by the town’s Indianapolis-based website management firm eGov Strategies and was made possible through a $3500 grant from the Dubois County Community Foundation.
“We commend the Town of Ferdinand for being a strong funding partner with the Community Foundation, utilizing grant dollars in a way that enhances public dialogue and embraces new technologies to do so,” said Brad Ward, CEO of Dubois County Community Foundation.
To download the app, tap the “App Store” button on your iPhone and perform a search for “Ferdinand IN”.
