Ferdinand Heimatfest this weekend
The summer festivals in Dubois County continue this weekend with the Ferdinand Heimatfest taking over 18th Street Park and the Ferdinand Community Center Friday, June 18 and Saturday, June 19.
The festival opens Friday afternoon and continues through Saturday with plenty of activities for kids and adults including the pedal pull, box parade, 3 on 3 basketball tournament, disc golf competition, barbecue competition, fried chicken dinners, plenty of live music, and of course, a beer garden.
Fried chicken dinners will be provided by the Ferdinand Volunteer Fire and Ladies Auxiliary. The Monastery bakery will selling ice cream cookies — chocolate chip, dreamsicle, and M&M — as well as iced hot chocolate and sweet “Heimat-tea”.
While entry and most activities are free or have a nominal charge, proceeds from the Heimatfest go to the Dubois County Community Foundation and the Ferdinand Community Endowment as well as to support local athletic teams and activities. Donations are accepted.
