SUMMER READING PROGRAM: The Library’s Summer Reading Program begins Tuesday, May 27th. This year’s theme is: “Color Our World”! The Kick Off Party will be on Wednesday, May 28th from 1-3 with Non & Pop Balloons balloon animal making and Master Eric Elliott giving a Karate Demonstration.

May Day Craft: 5/1 6-7:30 Adults/Teens can register at www.jdcpl.us to upcycle a beautiful glass jar into a container or decorative piece.
Star Wars Month: May The Forth Be With You! Stop by, check out some Star Wars books, get some stickers and activity sheets.
Derby Day: 5/3 9-2 Stop by and play a horse-racing wooden board game!
Mini Memoir Creative Writing Workshop: 5/6, 5/13, 5/20, 5/27 10-11AM Roxanne Mills, Retired Professor, from Oakland City University, will be teaching a fun workshop for Adults on writing a MINI MEMOIR! Register at www.jdcpl.us. Limited to 9 participants. Each will receive a notebook and pen. Coffee will be provided.
Teen Tissue Flower Making & Teen Advisory Board Meeting: 5/7 3:15 All middle and high schoolers are welcome to stop by and make a big tissue flower. All are also welcome to share their ideas as part of our Teen Advisory Board.
Book Sale: 5/10 10AM-1PM The Friends Of The Ferdinand Library is held on the second Saturday of each month. You can enter the Library Basement from the inside or by using the outside north door near the Ferdinand Community Center parking lot. Most paperbacks are $.50 and most hardcovers are $1. Oreo Cookie Tasting: 5/8 Did you know there are over 85 types of Oreo cookies? We’ll have a few varieties available for you to taste. You can then put your name in the Contest to win an Oreo Cookie Dunking Kit or a Pair of Oreo-themed Socks!
Plant A Plant Bingo: 5/24 3-4PM Teens/Adults – Stop by the Library and plant a plant. Then take your plant with you and a Plant Bingo Card. You ‘win’ by getting a straight line bingo horizontally or vertically. Bring your completed card back for a chance to win a $25 gift card of your choice!
Teens Play With Clay: 5/15 3:15 Teens can play with clay in May! All middle and high schoolers are welcome to come in and use their imagination to create. There will be some ideas available too!
Ferdinand Community In Bloom: 5/17 10AM & Noon In partnership with Framing Ferdinand, the entire town will have things to enjoy! Stop by the Library for Storytime at 10 & Noon or anytime between 9-2 to enjoy a variety of activities.
Evening Storytime: 5/19 6PM Enjoy stories, songs & crafts.
Senior Show & Tell: 5/21 10-Noon Adults can stop by anytime between 10-Noon. There will be coffee and water available. If you want to bring a picture or an item to talk about, you are welcome to do so and you can share your memories with others in attendance like you used to do when you were a kid! But you are also welcome to just listen to others. We’ll also have loads of activities to enjoy by yourself or with others: sorting games, aquapaint, jigsaw puzzles, UNO, tic tac toe, etc. We’ll also have “Dementia Kits” from our Library Of Things available.

Open Playtime For Littles: 5/9 10-Noon The Ferdinand Library will have building blocks, dolls, and other toys out and available for younger children to play with. Older kids can always avail themselves to all of the activities in the Programming Room during regular library hours.
Stories For Littles/Family Storytime: (Thursdays 5/1, 5/8, 5/15, 5/22 & 5/29 at 10AM) Enjoy stories, songs & crafts.
Senior Show & Tell: 5/21 100AM-Noon Mark your calendar! All Adults & Caregivers are welcome to our first “Senior Show & Tell” Event. Bring an item with you & you can share what it is with the others in attendance (or you can just listen to others’ stories). There will also be a lot of activities that you can do alone or with others – aqua painting, sorting, simple jigsaw puzzles, etc. We’ll also have out our “Library Of Things Dementia Kits” for everyone to peruse through. You can come for a little while or stay the entire time! Spread the word! Bring a friend. *No registration necessary.
The Ferdinand Library’s hours are Monday thru Thursday, 9am-8pm (EST), Friday (9am-5pm) and Saturday, 9am-2pm (EST).
