Ferdinand announces government meeting guidelines

The Town of Ferdinand announced guidelines for holding in-person meetings with members of its town boards and commissions as restrictions begin to loosen under the state’s phased reopening plan.

Those meetings will, however, be held in locations to accommodate social distancing guidelines.

In May, June and July, the town council, board of zoning appeals and plan commission will meet at the Ferdinand Community Center. The three will also be available via Zoom for those individuals unable to attend in person.

The park board and economic development commission will meet at town hall.

Attendees will be required to wear cloth masks, maintain social distancing seating arrangements and will have their temperature taken before entering the meeting — anyone with a temperature of 100.4 degrees Fahrenheit will be asked to return to their home. They will not be allowed to participate in-person at the meeting.

Meetings will be held when there is only essential business to be discussed (per current executive order and direction). If there is no essential business then the meetings will be canceled. An announcement advising the cancellation will be released prior to the meeting.

These new procedures are in place for approximately the next three months per the direction of the town council president. They will be reviewed as changes are made by the State of Indiana and by the Ferdinand Town Council.
