Ferdinand 175th Anniversary weather information and schedule changes
The Ferdinand 175 Core Committee has announced changes to Friday’s scheduled activities based on the forecast of potentially inclement weather in the Ferdinand area this evening.
Due to the extreme likelihood of very heavy rains moving through the region all evening long, it has been decided that tonight’s musical entertainment — Ready-R-Not and The High Road — will be moved from the Main Stage to the Ferdinand Community Center.
Music will start at 8:30 p.m. Only soft drinks will be for sale this evening inside the Community Center.
No beer will sold at the Community Center and no beer or coolers will be allowed inside. The NASCAR Club Beer Garden will be open at 5 p.m. but no beer may be taken from that area.
Winzerwald Winery is moving their Wine Garden inside the Community Center this evening as well.
Flip and Twist Gymnastics performance for tonight has been cancelled, as has the Hot Air Balloon Race. The Fitness Competition tonight has been moved to the SIC Fitness Gym located behind the Bargain Barn on Hwy 162. A decision on the Cornhole Contest will be made at 5 p.m.
For Saturday, the Lovin’ Spoonful, Georgia Satellites and Pure Prairie League concert has been moved to 18th Street Parking Lot. Attendees are asked to bring their own chairs. No coolers or alcohol will be allowed at the show. Persons will be asked to take them back to their vehicles if spotted.
The Wheels of Fortune Car Show will be held on the south side of 20th Street, starting at 9am. The Backyard BBQ Contest has been shifted to cul-de-sac and paved areas at the upper end of the 18th Street Park. Saturday’s portion of the Fitness Competition will take place at 11am at the East Forest Park High School parking lot, near the old gym.
Parking for Saturday events is available at the high school, library and YMCA, as well as the Ferdinand Community Center.
Last minute changes may be made by the committee.
