Fayola Wallenmeyer, 99, Evansville
Fayola Wallenmeyer, 99, passed away at her daughter’s home March 21, 2023, in Evansville.

She was born in Huntingburg to Laura and George Lehmkuhler in 1923.
After she graduated from Huntingburg High School in the class of 1941, she then moved to Evansville and went to work for Shane Uniform Company. Fayola then later worked for American General Finance for many years until retiring in 1995.
After retirement, she and her companion Jim spent many happy times wintering at their Florida home, traveling, and taking many cruises. Fayola was an avid gardener, a wonderful cook and took pride in growing her large tomatoes. She was a fierce card player and loved to play rook with her grandchildren, bridge with friends, and cared deeply for animals and their treatment.
Fayola was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Glenn, son-in-law Michael Carter, grandson Patrick Carter, and her companion of many years James Golday,
She leaves behind a family to mourn but who will be forever grateful for being allowed to know this most special woman her daughters, Pamela Faye Carter and Laura Gail Deal (Roy); five grandchildren Diana Symanowicz (Bruce), Scott Kierstead (Stacie), Tracy Kearns, Jeremiah Deal(Marshal), and Naomi Rich (Nathan); nine great-grandchildren, Brittney Carter, Carter, Spencer (Madi) and Katherine Symanowicz, Conner Kierstead (Hannah), Kayla Miller (Jerron), Tabitha Kierstead, Ryan (Lexi), Reagan Kearns, Auden Rich; one great-great-great-grandchild, Emmelyn Symanowicz; her nephew, Lee Lehmkuhler (Diane) and her three grand dogs, Ella, Yodi, and Sassy.
A celebration of her life will be held at Sunset Memorial funeral home Wednesday March 29. Visitation 11 to 1, service to follow immediately. Burial in Huntingburg.
In lieu of flowers, she requests that memorials be sent to It Takes A Village dog rescue or Vanderburgh County Humane Society.
