Father, son injured in scooter collision; father charged with felony
Jasper police arrested a Jasper man on a felony operating while intoxicated charge after two scooters collided on Portersville Road near Ann Lane, Wednesday.
Officers responded to the reported collision at about 8:30 p.m. When they arrived, they determined Shannon G. Adcox, 48, of Forrest Street, Jasper, was operating a 2013 KYMCO Scooter on Portersville Road and his minor son was following on another scooter. According to police, Adcox slowed abruptly to avoid hitting a dog that was in the road and his son’s scooter collided with his.
Both operators were partially ejected from their scooters and sustained injuries. Adcox’s minor son was transported to Memorial Hospital and treated for facial fractures before being transferred to St. Mary’s Medical Center in Evansville.
According to police, Adcox was under the influence of alcohol (blood alcohol content .11 percent) when the crash occurred. Police charged him with a felony count of operating while intoxicated causing serious bodily harm and misdemeanor counts of operating while intoxicated endangerment and operating while intoxicated.
After being treated at Memorial Hospital, Adcox was booked into the Dubois County Security Center.
