Evelyn A. Schaaf age 98 of Jasper passed away at 4:00 P.M. Wednesday June 15, 2011 at St. Charles health Campus in Jasper. She was born March 21, 1913 in Jasper to; Edward M. and Rosa T. (Gutzweiller) Egg. She married Edwin G. Schaaf November 24, 1932 at St. peter and Paul Cathedral in Indianapolis. He passed away March 29, 1992.

Evelyn Schaaf was a life-long resident of Jasper. She was a talented piano player who, along with her husband and brother-in-law, Emmet Schaaf, entertained in a Dixieland Band throughout Dubois County for many years.

She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and the D of I Sodality.

Surviving:

  • 1 daughter-Linda Lou Thimling Adkins of Fairborn OH
  • 1 son-Dr. Jack Schaaf and his wife Donna of Indianapolis
  • 2 grandchildren-Jayme D. (Thimling) Bettinger and her husband Danny of Springsboro OH., and Jack F. Thimling of Olney IL
  • Preceding her in death besides her husband is 1 sister-Lu Ella (Egg) Klein, and 2 brothers-Wilfred and Earl Egg.

Visitation will be held from 1:00-2:00 P.M. Friday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Jasper.

Funeral service will be held at 2:00 P.M. Friday June 17, 2011 at St. Joseph Catholic Church with burial to follow in Fairview Cemetery in Jasper.
