Evansville Philharmonic Orchestra to celebrate America, Olympians at Lincoln Amphitheatre Performance
The Evansville Philharmonic Orchestra, under the direction of its Music Director Alfred Savia, will honor America, as well as Evansville native and gold medal swimmer Lilly King and all of Team USA’s Olympians, with a patriotic performance at the Lincoln Amphitheatre on Saturday, September 3.
The evening of entertainment is sponsored by German American and will begin with an opening set by regional favorites the Celebration Singers.
“It is an honor to host the largest arts institution in the tri-state area on the Lincoln Amphitheatre’s rejuvenated performance stage,” said Marc Steczyk, Director of the Lincoln Amphitheatre. “I hope that many in our area take advantage of the opportunity to see this magnificent ensemble of nearly 80 musicians — most of which have graduated from the finest music schools in the United States — close to home and on such a patriotic weekend.”
Tickets for this official Indiana Bicentennial event are $19 for general admission and $27 for VIP (preferred seating and parking, a free drink voucher, and a commemorative event poster) and are available online at www.LincolnAmphitheatre.com or by calling 812-937-2329. Veterans can purchase general admission tickets for $14, and children 12 and under are free.
The doors open at 4:30 p.m. central time, the Celebration Singers (presented by the non-profit Friends of Lincoln State Park organization) will perform at 5:30 p.m. central, and the Evansville Philharmonic Orchestra will begin at 6:15 p.m. central.

The patriotic performance will include John Williams’ Olympic Fanfare, Raiders March, God Bless America, Armed Forces Salute, 1812 Overture (with canons), Ashokan Farewell with historian Gerald King reading the Colonel James Shanklin letters, and Dean Dorrell as Abe Lincoln reading the Gettysburg Address.
