Eugenia “Jeanne” B. Mundy, 78, Jasper

Eugenia “Jeanne” B. Mundy, 78, of Jasper, passed away at 11:40 a.m. on Monday, September 12, 2022, at Scenic Hills at the Monastery in Ferdinand. 

Jeanne was born in Jasper on February 17, 1944, to Sylvan and Pauline (Wehr) Mehringer.   

Jeanne is a 1962 Jasper High School graduate.  

She worked at the Dubois County Courthouse as a deputy treasurer. She then worked at Springs Valley Bank as a mortgage loan officer and eventually retired from the Dubois County Sheriff’s office as a jail matron.  

She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, the D of I, and the St. Ann’s Society.  

Jeanne enjoyed playing cards and activities at the Habig Center. She looked forward to her Tuesday evenings, “girls’ night out.” She enjoyed the St. Louis Cardinals and the Indianapolis Colts, as well as spending time with her family and grandchildren.  

She is survived by one son, Rod (Kim) Mundy of Ireland; three daughters, Bonnie (Bob) Meadows of Ireland, Debbie (Curt) Schmitt of Ferdinand, and Jane (Phil) Bonifer of Ireland; 11 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren with one great-grandchild on the way; three sisters, Sharon Buschkoetter, Martha Mundy, and Ann Hardin; two brothers, Fred Mehringer and Sylvan Mehringer. 

Preceding her in death were her parents. 

A Mass of Christian Burial for Eugenia “Jeanne” B. Mundy will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Friday, September 16, 2022, in St. Joseph Catholic Church in Jasper, Indiana, with burial to follow in Fairview Cemetery in Jasper.   

A visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 15, 2022, at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper, Indiana. The D of I and the St. Ann’s Society will pray a rosary at 1:30 p.m. prior to the visitation.
