Eugene Leonard “Lenny” Blessinger, 73, Jasper

Eugene Leonard “Lenny” Blessinger, 73, Jasper, passed away at 4:38 a.m. on Tuesday, May 3, 2016, at University of Louisville Hospital.

Lenny was born in Jasper on July 31, 1942, to Leo and Florentina (Merkley) Blessinger. He married Margaret Bohnert on February 8, 1964 in St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Jasper.

Lenny retired from Jasper Cabinet Company where he had worked for several years. He was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Jasper and the Jasper Outdoor Recreation. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, landscaping, reading, cooking, and watching basketball and old movies.

He is survived by his wife, Margaret Blessinger of Jasper; two daughters, Stacey Willis and her husband Chris of Allegan, Mich. and Kristin Blessinger of Jasper; two sons, Tom Blessinger and his wife Christy of Jasper and Brian Blessinger of Jasper; four grandchildren, Blake Blessinger, Britteny Watkins, Justin Wright, and Amy Wright; two great-grandchildren, Kaylee Carnahan and Jaxton Watkins; one sister, Jeannie Leinenbach and her husband Ronnie of Jasper; one brother, Leo Blessinger Jr. and his wife Germaine Blessinger.

Preceding him in death are four sisters, Doris Burke, Rose Wehr, Lucy Ambs, and Bernice Miller, and three brothers, Edwin, Paul, and Conrad Blessinger.

Funeral services for Blessinger will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 5, 2016, at Holy Family Catholic Church in Jasper, with burial to follow in Fairview Cemetery in Jasper.

Friends may call from 10:00 a.m. until the 12:00 p.m. service time at the church on Thursday.
