Eugene Leo Stallman, 74, Mariah Hill, passed away Monday, Dec. 19, 2016, at Willowdale Village in Dale.

He was born in Mariah Hill on March 9, 1942, to Emil and Clara C. (Strobel) Stallman.

Mr. Stallman retired as a foreman and construction worker for Streicher Construction in Jasper. He served in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Germany during the Vietnam Era. He was a member of Ferdinand American Legion Post 124 and a lifelong member of St. Francis Of Assisi Parish-Mary Help Of Christians Catholic Church in Mariah Hill. His hobbies were construction and electrical work. He was a hobby farmer.

He is survived by two brothers, Charles (Anna Wirth) Stallman of Santa Claus and David (Margie) Stallman of Ferdinand; a sister, Emily Stallman of Huntingburg; his caregivers, Eric and Lisa Stallman of Mariah Hill; and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Albert and Bernard “Bernie” Stallman.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. CST Thursday in St. Francis of Assisi-Mary Help Of Christians Catholic Church in Mariah Hill. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Ferdinand Legion Post 124 will conduct military graveside rites. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. CST Wednesday and 7 to 9:30 CST Thursday at Becher Funeral Home in Ferdinand.
