Eugene Earl Minor, 86, Dale

He was born May 2, 1929 in Lamar, Indiana to Karl and Alma (Lottes) Minor.
Eugene was a lifelong member of St. Peter’s United Church of Christian in Lamar. He was also a member of the Historical Truck Society of America and a U.S. Army veteran, serving as a military police officer, once guarding President Harry Truman.
He loved to travel, garden and enjoyed family gatherings and riding horses when the girls were younger, especially those trips trail riding with neighbors.
He drove a truck his entire working life, hauling chickens from Lamar to Chicago at 16. Making trips to California bringing back produce across country in record time. He always chose to see the best in folks and often helped those down on their luck by paying them to help unload his truck.
He was preceded in death by his first wife Carol (Doyle) in 1990.
He is survived by his wife of 21 years Opal Cooper Kaetzel of Dale; his daughters Peggy (Gary) Hunter of Gentryville, Sheila (Doug) Kress of Tell City, Jenia Small of Dale and Tammy (John) Hamilton of Santa Claus; 10 grandchildren; six great grandchildren and three step-great grandchildren; a sister, Lela Labhart of Louisville, Ky.
Friends may call on Friday January 29 from 2 p.m. till 8 p.m. at the Fuller Funeral Home and on Saturday January 30 from 10 a.m. till 1 p.m. at St. Peter’s United Church Of Christ (Lamar), with the Funeral service at 1 p.m. at the church with burial to follow in the church cemetery.
