Eugene Donald Miller, 69, Indianapolis

Eugene Donald Miller — father, grandfather, and friend — passed away peacefully in Indianapolis on Sunday, December 11, 2022.

Gene was born to Lawrence (Sr.) and Dolores Miller in Jasper on August 1, 1953.

He graduated from Jasper High School before beginning his 40-plus-year career in the long-haul trucking industry as a self-employed owner-operator.

As a loving father and grandfather, Gene loved to reminisce about his kids. He also cherished watching or hearing about any activities that his grandkids were involved in. He was known for his unique laugh, willingness to give to others, and patience.

Through the years, Gene enjoyed farming, playing cards, watching the St. Louis Cardinals, a good political debate, listening to music, and traveling the country in his big rig. With a network of friends across the country, he was always quick with a joke, a story of life on the road, and of course, a good prank.

Gene is survived by his children, Amanda (Brock) Dilger; son, Nathan Miller; ex-wife, Brenda Miller; three grandchildren, Addison, Spencer, and Hayden Dilger; four brothers, Marty, Tom, Alan, and Lawrence (Jr.) Miller; two sisters, Mary Martin, Sharon James; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence and Dolores Miller, and a sister, Angela Miller.

A mass will be held at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Ireland on Wednesday, December 21, 2022, at 10 a.m. Visitation will precede mass starting at 9 a.m at the church.

Memorial contributions may be made to the food pantry or humane society of your choice.
