Etta Marie Klem, 92, of Ferdinand, passed away Monday, November 4, 2013, at Scenic Hills Care Center in Ferdinand.

Etta was born November 9, 1920 to Bernard and Catherine (Fischer) Gadlage at Celestine.

She married Hilbert Klem on April 25, 1946 in Celestine, he passed away August 15, 1979.

Etta is survived by one son, Bernard “Butch” Klem and spouse Doris of Ferdinand; four daughters, Becky Emmons and spouse Rick of Ferdinand, Marcy Knust and spouse John of Ferdinand, Mary Hoffman of St. Anthony, Phyllis Reynolds and spouse Tom of Huntingburg; one sister, Alvina Schnell of Jasper; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren also survive.

Etta was preceded in death by her husband Hilbert; a daughter, Luann; a son, Randy; three brothers, Roman, Herman and Ralph in infancy; five sisters, Veronica Hoffman, Ella Fritz, Minnie Nordhoff, Gertrude Gehlhausen and Clara Schulz.

Etta was a homemaker who enjoyed altering clothes, crocheting and sewing. She sat with the elderly and cleaned the Ferdinand Church Rectory.

Etta was a member of Saint Ferdinand Church Parish where she taught religion and also belonged to it’s St. Ann’s Sodality.

Visitation will be Thursday from 2-8:00 PM and Friday from 7-9:30 a.m. at Becher Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday at St. Ferdinand Catholic Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery.
