Erratic driving leads to controlled substance arrest

Huntingburg — Huntingburg police arrested 42-year-old Jack R. Huff, of 105 East Cherry Street, Dale, for operating a vehicle under the influence of a controlled substance and driving while suspended Sunday at 12:01 p.m.

Officers were contacted about a green Chevrolet Blazer driving erratically southbound on U.S. 231. An officer located the vehicle at the 400 block of Main Street/U.S. 231 in Huntingburg but wasn’t able to get behind the Blazer until it was south of Huntingburg on U.S. 231.

The officer followed the Blazer and observed the vehicle weaving back and forth, crossing the center line, and even driving in the opposing lane of traffic.

The officer was finally able to stop the Blazer just south of the Huntingburg Airport.

After making contact with the driver, Huff, officers transported him to Memorial Hospital for a blood test.

Huff was charged with operating while under the influence of a controlled substance, driving while suspended and cited for operating a vehicle left of center.

He was booked into the Dubois County Security Center at 2:49 p.m.

The Dubois County Sheriff’s Department assisted in the investigation.
